I. Introduction to PTFE
Among fluoroplastics, polytetrafluoroethylene is widely used and is the largest and most important variety in the fluoroplastic family. Polytetrafluoroethylene exhibits amazing chemical resistance and is basically resistant to most chemical materials. PTFE has good self-lubricating properties and is an ideal material for making corrosion-resistant gaskets and seals. The operating temperature range of polytetrafluoroethylene is -200 degrees Celsius to 260 degrees Celsius.
II. Characteristics of PTFE
Advantages
♦ Excellent corrosion resistance, except for some fluorides and alkaline metal liquids
♦ Flame retardant performance, limited oxygen index less than 90
♦ Low friction coefficient
♦ Non-stick, self-lubricating performance
♦ High and low temperature resistance, temperature range is -200~260℃
♦ Excellent electrical insulation performance
♦ Weathering aging resistance
♦ Low permeability, good gas barrier
♦ Good physiological compatibility and anti-thrombotic properties
III. Application of PTFE
PTFE, as a high and low temperature resistant material, corrosion resistant material, insulating material in atomic energy, national defense, aerospace, electronics, electrical, chemical, machinery, instrumentation, instrumentation, construction, textile, metal surface treatment, pharmaceutical, medical, food, metallurgy and smelting industry, has become an irreplaceable product. For example, it is used to make sealing gaskets, corrosion-resistant parts, medical equipment, pickling tanks, wear-resistant parts, etc.
