Yancheng Tongtong Industrial Technology Co., Ltd. recently completed the production and shipment of a batch of PTFE Lined Fittings for a customer in the United States. The fittings will be used in an industrial piping system where resistance to corrosive chemical media is an important requirement.
For this type of application, the fitting itself is only part of the consideration. The PTFE lining needs to work together with the steel outer structure to provide a reliable flow path while the piping system is exposed to demanding chemical conditions. Elbows, tees and other PTFE lined pipe fittings also require proper dimensional matching so they can be connected smoothly with the customer's existing piping.
Before shipment, the fittings were checked according to the production requirements, with attention given to the PTFE lining, flange areas, overall dimensions and appearance. The lining needs to remain properly positioned inside the fitting, particularly around connection areas where installation and sealing can directly affect the performance of the piping system.
Compared with using ordinary metal fittings alone, PTFE lined fittings are commonly selected for corrosive chemical services because the PTFE inner layer provides a chemically resistant contact surface, while the steel shell provides the mechanical support required by the piping system. The actual suitability, however, depends on the chemical medium, concentration, temperature, pressure and operating conditions of the application.
